Meet Kate

Kate has over 9 years’ experience in corporate and commercial law. Her journey began in London where she trained and practiced. She then honed her skills at two major Sydney law firms before moving to a venture capital fund, called Artesian. Artesian manages over 20 venture capital funds with over AUD1billion funds under management.

Kate is senior legal counsel at Artesian and the majority of her work is advising in respect of the venture capital portfolio, which includes over 600 companies.  Kate is an expert in legal issues relating to venture capital, private equity, M&A and early stage companies.

The inspiration to launch Venture Counsel stemmed from Kate’s firsthand observation of founders within the Artesian portfolio facing challenges with their advisors. Conversations with these founders fueled her determination to create a legal firm that truly understands their needs. Handling between 5 and 15 investments per month for Artesian, Kate has a deep understanding of early stage fundraising in Australia. She understands the motivations of founders and venture capital funds, and the processes and documents companies require.
